Our homemade guacamole has been perfected over the years and remains a constant in our rotation of classic family recipes. Neil enjoys a more smooth guac while Whitney prefers chunky. You can customize this one to meet your needs- if you like more onion, add more. If you don’t want cilanto, leave it out. It’s kind of a choose-your-own adventure recipe, and it will always end well.
This recipe couldn’t be easier. Once you find perfect avocados, you’re set. The avocados in stores around us lately have been pretty firm, so you might want to plan ahead and see what’s available, then let them ripen and make this recipe on the weekend.
If you want to avoid crying while you’re chopping the onion, pop in it in the fridge a few hours before making the guac. It doesn’t totally eliminate it, but helps.
Add all ingredients together in a bowl and mix until you reach the desired consistency.
The addition of lime juice is essential not only to brighten the flavor but preserve the guac and make sure it doesn’t start browning before it’s time to serve.
We hope you enjoy making our favorite guac! Serve with chips and margs or store in the fridge to top on your weekly tacos.
