Last weekend, we traveled to Innsbrook, Missouri, where we stayed in the Treetop Getaway Chalet, hosted by Sarah Bernard Vacation Rentals. It was an ideal fall escape away from the hustle and bustle of our city routines. We love that her properties in Innsbrook are only about an hour from St. Louis. It’s a manageable drive for a young family with a three-year-old and infant in tow, yet far enough away to make it feel like you’re really out of town.

The Treetop Getaway Chalet is perfect for the couple or small family who want to unwind and take in the beauty of nature, but still enjoy the luxury of an updated and well-kept accommodation.

This chalet featured an incredibly comfortable king-sized mattress, oversized jetted tub, and a few other modern decor features that really sets it apart from other chalets in the area.

Upstairs, you’ll find a loft space with an extra queen-sized bed. It’s nice to have this extra room if your family needs another sleeping space. Also, we found some fun board games up here!

One thing we really liked about working with Sarah’s team is how organized they are. They encourage guests to download the DACK app, which included helpful information about our stay. Using the app, we were able to check our Wifi password, request early check-in or a late check-out, and contact their team if we needed anything. It was a handy resource, and we were happy to have all of that information in our pockets!

Having a well-equipped kitchen is vital any time we are looking to take a vacation. The chalet comes with various pots and pans, bowls, and cooking tools you’ll need. We brought our own cooler with ingredients we’d need for the weekend and were set upon arrival. Here’s my pro-tip that I shared last year: portion your ingredients for chocolate chip cookies in a bag ahead of time so that you’re not hauling so much flour, sugar, etc. Just bring what you need and you’ll be ready to bake!

Another pro-tip is that if you’re going to make cookies, make them the first day you’re there so you can enjoy them by the fireplace each night (or grab them throughout the day)!

In the mornings we made breakfast sandwiches with sausage, egg, and cheese. Here’s Neil whipping up a Neil McMuffin.

For dinner, we enjoyed making fried chicken and whipped potatoes. We brought along Panko for the chicken breasts and the crunch was incredible. The view from the table at each meal was beautiful.

You know we had to make pizza! We did bring along the Lodge pan (we bring this most anywhere we vacation, even to Florida!) and their oven baked our pizza to perfection.

This particular chalet was tucked in the woods so nicely. It was incredibly quiet. The night sky twinkled bright with stars, deer quietly meandered in the morning past our patio as we sipped on our coffee, and a gentle breeze moved through the tall oak trees as we sat outside during the kids’ naptime.

The screened-in porch also allowed for a fantastic view of the woods, and was the perfect place to play cards or work on a puzzle.

There are plenty of hiking trails, golf, fishing, horseback riding, pickleball, tennis, a playground (our favorite) and more nearby on the Innsbrook property. Back at our chalet, we enjoyed hiking, spending time on the patio, and watching shows (okay, mostly Daniel Tiger). We snuggled close and sipped on hot apple cider as the wood burning fireplace crackled and popped.
