Halo + Cleaver

This post is a paid partnership with Halo + Cleaver. As always, our opinions are our own.

We are condiment people. As foodies, it’s hard not to be. We often create our own sauces, marinades, and dips to amp up the flavor of our meals and level up a seemingly simple dish. I think one of the biggest take aways from doing Whole 30 the first time was being aware of every single ingredient we were eating, and it’s impact on our overall health. At that time, we were realized how much processed ingredients and sugar condiments can sneak into our weekly routine. Fortunately for us, we’ve met the wonderful health-minded folks at Halo + Cleaver who are changing that game entirely. They were so kind to drop off samples of their sauces and we were immediately hooked.

These sauces are game changers. They’re made with all natural, creative ingredients, like green bananas, apple cider vinegar, pineapple juice, and more. They’re low-sugar, gluten-free, dairy-free, Non-GMO, Whole 30-Approved, Keto-Friendly, and Plant-Based. But most importantly, they’re a healthier option than their processed counterparts and all three of us sing their praises. Actually, we gave my parents a sample, too and they loved all three. If you make good-for-you sauces that win over three generations of foodies, you’re doing something right!

As you all know, we are a St. Louis family interested in supporting St. Louis companies and restaurants. Halo + Cleaver is a St. Louis brand! In meeting with their team, the classic “Where did you go to high school?” question even came up. We appreciate their authenticity as a brand, that is reflected not only in their business model but also their products. They are up front and clear about their mission to bring joy to the world through food. High standards. Low sugar. That’s something we can all get on board with, right? Let us introduce you now to the three sauces!

Perfect Ketchup: The name rings true. I’m used to the taste of the ketchup we all grew up with, but when we tasted this one, we could actually taste the tomatoes. It’s not overly sweet, and great for dipping your favorite fries. Our toddler just couldn’t get enough of this stuff on her plate, and we can rest assured knowing it has no added sugars and fake ingredients.

Backyard Red BBQ Sauce: This sweet and tangy BBQ sauce will soon become a favorite at your next backyard BBQ. We used it on our summer BBQ chicken, but it would also be great on a variety of meats. As they like to say, it’s the healthy hero our chicken deserves. But hey, not just chicken! We poured this sweet sauce on our nachos the other day and they were SO good!

Gold Mustard BBQ Sauce: When we lived in North Carolina, vinegar-based BBQ sauces were all the rage. They’re a little more thin than their traditional sweet counterparts, but leave you wanting to pour more and more on whatever you’re eating. We like using Halo + Cleaver’s Gold Mustard BBQ sauce as a dip for roasted meats, but we also enjoyed them as a sauce for our salmon patties.

If you’ve been following our blog or social media accounts over the past year, you know we’ve been a little obsessed with making smash burgers. Traditional burger sauce is a combination of various condiments to bring a sweet and tangy punch to your burger. Of course, we had to try making burger sauce with Halo + Cleaver sauces! We’re pleased to report that it was delicious, and we kept using the sauce throughout the week on our scrambled eggs and turkey sandwiches. Try it out this Labor Day weekend on your burgers!

Halo + Cleaver Burger Sauce:

Prep Time: 5 min. Cook Time: 0 min.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup Halo + Cleaver Perfect Ketchup

1 tablespoon Halo + Cleaver Gold Mustard BBQ Sauce

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon sriracha sauce

1 tablespoon chopped onion

1/4 cup sliced bread and butter pickles

Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

Blend all ingredients using a small food processor. Add salt and pepper to taste. We like our burgers with caramelized onions, Kraft singles, and smothered in burger sauce.

Halo + Cleaver sauces are now available here in St. Louis at Schnucks and Fresh Thyme Markets. If you’re not in the area, fear not, you can order online at haloandcleaver.com. They even offer free shipping on orders over $30. Once you try these sauces, it will be hard to go back to your old ways. The other day, I got curbside from a restaurant and they threw in ketchup packets. I didn’t even use them because I wished so badly they were the Perfect Ketchup from Halo + Cleaver instead! Maybe someday. For now, we’ll keep our fridge stocked with these condiments and know we’re making a healthier, delicious step for our family.
