Hey, Cupid! Valentine’s Day is ALMOST HERE. If you haven’t yet planned your at-home date night this year, fear not, there’s still time. Our go-to for date night is usually steak. If you want to impress your Valentine with a fancy steak dinner this year but don’t enjoy spending time out on the grill, aren’t a confident cook, or just need to save time in the kitchen, the Simply! Sous Vide products from Verde Farms might be a perfect fit for you.

Buffalo Chicken Soup

Buffalo Chicken Soup

I hear there is a big game this weekend. I also hear it’s supposed to be SOUPER cold. This dish brings together the classic football party flavor of Buffalo wings in a comforting, healthy bowl of soup that is sure to warm you from the inside out. The best way to describe this soup is to think of a classic tomato soup with the addition of shredded chicken and Buffalo sauce. Although optional, we recommend topping the soup with a nice helping of zesty blue cheese.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oat Bars

Chocolate PB Oat Bars

This four ingredient, no bake snack couldn’t be more simple to make. I don’t know why, but when things started shutting down in March, I stocked up on OATS. I don’t even LIKE oatmeal, and yet I still felt compelled buy ALL THE OATS. If things got really bad, at least we could eat oats. Well. A lot of what we refer to as the “pandemic pantry,” is still stocked, and I think it’s time to start using those items. So I thought to myself, “What can I make with oats that isn’t oatmeal?” Enter onto the scene, these sweet and sticky chocolate peanut butter oat bars.

Quinoa “Salad”

Close Up Quinoa

About a month ago, I shared a photo of a quinoa “salad” (is it really a salad, though? I’m using those quotation marks loosely here…) on Instagram that I was enjoying for lunch and we received several requests for the recipe. It originated as something I kind of just threw together, but I’ve measured the ingredients out and I’m happy to share it with you today!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Spiderweb Tart

Spiderweb Overhead 2

Halloween is coming up, and I’ve had conversations with a lot of parents about how it’s going to look different this year. Some families are getting creative with modifying trick-or-treating traditions, some are attending outdoor activities like Boo at the Zoo or Haunted Wagon Rides at Eckert’s. Others are doing drive through events like Halloween at Grant’s Farm. Gathering with friends around a bonfire might be more popular (and safe) this year than cramming in a haunted house.

Hudsonville Ice Cream

Every year around Labor Day, I look forward to dusting off the huge plastic bins in the basement that store our fall decorations. Wreaths! Pumpkins! Let the celebration of all things fall begin. After spending a few hours getting the house just right and seasonally appropriate, I step outside to hang the wreath on the door and suddenly remember how HOT it still is in September. Really, that St. Louis heat can linger through October. No matter the weather or what season the decorations around my house are channeling, there’s one treat that I continue to crave all year round: ice cream.
